On May 22, 1973, Dr. Robert M. Metcalfe wrote a now-famous memo at Xerox PARC inventing Ethernet, the Internet packet plumbing standard, which as of today ships more than a billion new wired and WiFi ports per year. In celebration of the
 40th anniversary of Ethernet, Dr. Robert Metcalfe presented a keynote  at “The Future of Ethernet” TEF on October 15th, 2013.
